An excellent Year 10 out on Work Experience

“Overall an excellent year out on Work Experience. Despite a National recession all our pupils managed to secure a work placement with over 99.5% of pupils receiving outstanding feedback from employers. Many thanks to all the families who helped support the programme,”Mrs S Wright commented.
Work Experience 12 April – 23 April 2010
by Jack Gilbertson
‘Everyone I know was dreading work experience and we had all faced disappointments and set backs however I thoroughly enjoyed my work experience and met a lot of great people. Although it wasn’t in the line of work that I hope to pursue I would gladly go back there to help out.’
Jack Gilbertson Dallam Care Centre
I learned how people are cared for. It’s interesting to talk to people and listen to their experiences, helping people to grasp new concepts, helping people enjoy themselves. I am looking to a career in medicine and this is good experience.
Alexandra Hamill – Liverpool Direct Limited
I’ve grown up a bit. I’ve been booking hotels, using emails. I’ve learnt a lot more about people and computers. Learnt how to email distribution lists and learning how a busy office works. I am a lot more confident; I am going into the Army and will find this placement beneficial to me.
Samantha Platt – Peacocks Stores Limited
Standing up all day, hard on the feet. Enjoyed the experience doing new things have grown in confidence as the work progressed.
Chloe Hill – Independence Dance Cub
Have enjoyed the teaching of the younger members of the dance school as well as creating new dance routines and training programmes. Hope to be a dance teacher in the future.
Joe Cholmondley – HUWS Gray
Gained experience in the ordering and delivery process with building materials. Learning about the transport fuel, serving etc. Find it easier working with others as a team. Improved my communication skills and I would like to work in the construction industry when I leave school.

I enjoyed my placement; I enjoyed serving customers and arranging the clothing in the shop. “It’s better than school!”
Emma Wortley – Warrington Museum & Art Gallery
Have enjoyed making the video promoting the museum which is being placed onto YouTube.
Rebecca Mairs – Sycamore Lane CP School
Learning how to work with other people, how to communicate and interact with the children. I want to be a Nursery teacher and am finding the placement very useful.
Daniel Percival – Future Designs Consultants
It’s really something I want to do as an occupation. I’m gaining in experience – designing web sites, logos and advertisements. It allows me to be creative and design various advertisements and websites. I definitely want to do this when I leave school.
William Pridden DH Landscapes
Really enjoying the work; it’s what I may do after school. Like work hours and regular timetable. Enjoying variety and working as part of a team.
