The A-level sciences taught at Penketh include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Applied Science.
Each of the courses are provided by the OCR examination group. The teaching of these courses is delivered by two experienced, subject specific teachers over 9 hours a fortnight.
Biology - the areas covered in this course include cell structure and membranes, cell division and organisation, transport in animals and plants, biological molecules, food and health, and biodiversity and evolution. Chemistry - the areas covered in this course include atoms, reactions and the periodic table, hydrocarbons, alcohols and energy, polymers and synthesis, and rates of reaction and equilibria.

Physics - the areas covered in this course include motion and forces in action, electrons, waves and photons, Newton's laws and momentum, and fields, particles and frontiers of physics. Applied Science - the areas of this course are taught over two years with three modules being taught each year. Two of the modules will be portfolio based whilst the third topic will be examination based.
