The teaching of science at key stage 3 is split into 11 modules taught over years 7-9. The topics will be based around a general science idea, but will have clear biology, chemistry, and physics areas. The scheme of learning is designed to be a spiral. so that some aspects will be revisited in varying amounts each year which will allow the students to progress. Assessment will be continual over the key stage with small modular examinations after each topic, skills assessments during each topic marked following the APP criteria, and a larger end of year and end of key stage examinations. The course is taught in fully equipped science teaching laboratories. The classes are set from the start of year 7 and the students will have their setting reassessed each half.
