A Level History is a popular subject with students at Penketh Sixth Form College. It is taught by Mrs. E Rickards and Mr. J Peat. At AS level students will be taught an Early Modern unit on Charles I and a Modern unit on Revolutionary Russia. Students will investigate key questions including 'Why Civil War broke out in 1642?' and 'Why the reign of Nicholas II ended in revolution in 1917?'
At A2 students will focus on Britain, 1642 -1689. They will investigate the outcome of the English Civil War, the execution of Charles I, Oliver Cromwell and the Interregnum and the reign of Charles II. Students will also complete a 4000 word Personal Study were they will be encouraged to investigate an issue relating to Tudor Rebellions, 1485-1603 or on the causes of war, 1815-1939.
