Home Economics Key Stage 4

 

The AQA GCSE Home Economics: Child Development course is being delivered by Mrs Kennedy and Mrs Bibby for the current academic year.

Taught through a series of knowledge based units, pupils learn through discussion and peer presentations, individual and group work as well as the more tradition style of teaching. Units include: Parenthood; Pregnancy; Diet, health and care of the child; Development of the child and Support for the parent and child.

Assessment is in three parts:

A written examination (40%) at the end of the course

A research task (20%) completed during the course and supervised by the teacher.

A child study (40%). Pupils undertaking this course must have access to a child who will be NO OLDER than 5years of age on the date of the final examination. Pupils are expected to carry out structured activities with the child they are studying in their own time.
