At KS4 the ICT department offers two choices; GCSE ICT and OCR national ICT.
GCSE ICT covers both the theory and practical aspects of the subject. The course is assessed by a final examination worth 40% and coursework worth 60%.
The coursework is split into two projects; a set assignment that is written by the exam board that is completed in year 10 and then a project on databases that is completed in year 11.
The theory element of the course covers topics such as: components of a computer system, networks, communication, applications software, ICT and the law, ICT and society and data security and protection.
OCR ICT is 100% coursework and is therefore assessed on the development of practical skills only. Two units of work are completed;
Unit 1: ICT skills for Business
Unit 20: Creating animation for the worldwide web
