The Art Department prides itself on the commitment it shows to it’s pupils with the time the staff put in with the pupils on a one to one basis after school.
All pupils get the opportunity to do a fabric screen print. This will be created from one of their drawings or an image they have researched. Pupils will have to provide the fabric to print on. This is done after school and can boost their grade dramatically. It shows the examiner a whole new skill and can create extra sketchbook work from the ‘blots’ or paper prints that can be taken. Staff give freely of their time throughout the week, providing lots of extra curricular workshops most nights of the week.
Art Club will run on various nights of the week for KS3 pupils, providing the opportunity to work with different materials, techniques and processes.
Each term an artist will be employed by the school to deliver a two day workshop where they will teach their discipline and share their expertise with a range of materials.
During Year 10, 11, 12 or 13 pupils will be able to take part in an educational Gallery Visit, which will help inform their individual projects.
Every Year the department runs a foreign trip for Year 10, 11, 12 and 13 students. Last year 40 pupils went to Rome which helped gain primary resources, research and ideas for their coursework.
