Senior Citizens Community Events

The student's from Penketh College organise an annual Christmas party for citizens in the local community.

“We returned home with a happy feeling. Everyone was so kind and thoughtful especially the young ones. We admire them so much.”

This was just one of the compliments made by our guests, sent by letter ‘to all who made the luncheon so enjoyable’ from Mr and Mrs Pennington.

Five of our Year 10 Collegiate Catering students, Christopher Ellis, Sam Kirby, Thomas Wavish, Michael Daniels,Nathan Westall, led by Mrs Ann McNally, supported by Mrs J Austin, cooked 40 three course Christmas dinners in our Food Technology department for our guests, invited from the local community. They provided soup, traditional Christmas dinner and a choice of trifle or mince pies and brandy cream.

This festive event took place on 14th December hosted by members of the School Council, supported by Mrs E Peters, Mrs V Wearing and Mrs L Hendry, who greeted our guests at 11:30 and admirably provided for them until 3pm.

The entertainment was produced by the School Brass Band and the pupils organised a raffle and bingo! The whole day was very enjoyable and although the lunch was slightly delayed, being stuck in the lift for a short time, the band played on!!
