In order to develop educational ideas and understanding, to enhance the teaching of English and Mandarin languages and to promote friendship and partnership between the two schools, No 1 Yuan Dong Middle School of Xi’an and Penketh High School have agreed to formalise the link between the two schools on the basis of equality and mutual respect.

The key objectives of our partnership are to:

• Establish, develop and maintain a lasting and sustainable relationship between our schools with equal input from both partners.

• Broaden the knowledge and understanding of pupils and teaching staff alike by enabling then to gain an understanding, appreciation and respect for other cultures and language

• Exchange materials and good practise on a regular basis to build a mutually beneficial relationship between schools.

• Explore the possibilities for staff and/or pupil mobility between our schools in the near future.

• Raise awareness of our link within the rest of our schools, our local communities and beyond.

• To use Penketh’s media specialism to create media films to facilitate cultural exchange and learning for students in both schools.

• To create joint curriculum projects to engage students in learning about global issues.
