A GROUP of emerging Sports Leaders from Penketh High School made the trip to the University of Chester’s Warrington Campus on February 28.
The pupils visited the Padgate site to attend a conference designed to increase their understanding of sports coaching.
Assistant Headteacher Miss S Jones said: “They spent the day in various workshops challenging their thinking, leadership and physical skills and also took part in a Role Models Workshop run by Olympic and Commonwealth swimmer Chris Cook – no stranger to Penketh High School as he visited us last year.
“Many of these students, despite their age, are already volunteering both in school and in the local community.”
Pupils from across Warrington attended the conference which was organised by the Warrington School Sport Partnership (WSSP), of which Miss Jones is part.
WSSP is a proactive organization that recruits and supports young people from the borough into volunteering and helps them learn new skills and gain leadership and coaching qualifications.
