PLANS are underway to help send Penketh staff and pupils on an extraordinary journey to Ecuador.
Working with World Challenge (WC), an organisation that helps schools manage overseas expeditions, Penketh is organising several schemes to help raise funds for the trip.
One of these initiatives saw the school setting up an account with the website easyfundraising.org.uk where people can purchase items and make a contribution.
Assistant Head and School Sport Coordinator Miss S Jones said of the website: “You can do all your internet shopping with all major retailers, Marks and Spencer, Argos, flights, but by going through the site we get a donation from the retailer based upon how much they spend. The goods you buy are exactly the same price as they would be if you used the retailers own site so please check it out.”
Miss Jones added she is also collecting old mobile phones which can be recycled to raise further funds.
WC aims to give people a once in a lifetime experience while learning life skills such as team working and communication.
The school has previously enjoyed visits to Mexico in 2008 and Namibia earlier this year, again organised through WC.
