Ofsted Report

The Ofsted Inspection carried out during the second week of the new term judged the school to be satisfactory with some good features.  This was broadly in line with our own self assessment.

Although this appears to be a step back from the previous inspection in 2007, we recognise that the new framework was always going to make it tougher to achieve the previous judgment.  We are, however, encouraged by the fact that the inspectors recognised improvements being made and sensed, ‘a changed culture and a clear desire to improve provision and outcomes for students ……. This new mood of optimism is evident in gradually improving results.’ I am confident that Penketh High School is making real progress in terms of provision and outcomes for our students and we are in a good position to continue this trend.

Nearly a fifth of parents returned questionnaires and most of these were positive about the school.  The areas for development identified by Ofsted and areas suggested by parents are already featured in some of the changes we have introduced in the past twelve months and/or in our current plans, but we will look carefully at the report and adjust our planning accordingly.

Copies of the Inspection Report are being sent home with pupils and a copy can be accessed through this website.
