Last Updated on Tuesday, 31 January 2012 11:30 Tuesday, 31 January 2012 09:01
We are offering all Birmingham secondary schools the opportunity to attend an Olympic themed workshop at the MAC Arts Theatre (Birmingham) on Wednesday the 21st March 2012.
We have worked with a professional film company, Red Rose Media, to produce a feature film exploring the Olympic values. The film follows the journeys of four young athletes in the run up to the Olympics. Each character has different issues to contend with based around social/economic/personal circumstances and the film shows how by considering the Olympic values, the characters can overcome their problems.
Our target audience is pupils studying Humanities/RE/Learning for Life/Social Studies subjects at Key Stages 3, 4 & 5.
The event will run from 10am until 1.30pm and will consist of the following...
- Screening of the film entitled Legacy - 90 minutes.
- A Motivational speaker talking about the Olympic values.
- A Workshop on the Olympic values.
- Ideas as to how schools can become involved in London 2012 projects.
To accompany the film we have also produced a learning resource pack (DVD and Book) with lesson ideas to embed the themes of the film into the curriculum. This will be distributed free of charge to all schools on the day. The event has been funded by the London 2012 'Get Set' Initiative.
We have places for twenty schools to attend the event and each school will be able to bring a maximum of 10 people including pupils. The only cost to schools will be transport to and from the venue. Refreshments will be provided on the day. School's are asked to arrive at 9.30am on the day to register. Please call 07896674854 or email
