Art Galleries Visit Goes Ahead Despite The Weather!

The London Gallery Visit went ahead despite the winter weather conditions on Tuesday 5th January.

37 students, led by 5 members of staff: Miss A Llewellyn-Jenkins, Miss S Garrod, Mrs J Timmins, Miss N Timmins and Miss S Jones, left Penketh by coach at 6am, with thick snow on the ground.
The trip went very well however. As they travelled on the M6 through wintry conditions, the roads were clear, and the sun was out when they arrived in London!!
The first port of call was the British Museum to visit the Montezuma (Aztec) Exhibition.
The second visit was to the Saatchi Gallery to see the Abstract America Exhibition.

The pupils had information booklets about the exhibits and had to find out additional information and complete their booklets whilst walking around the galleries.

They left London earlier than planned due to the weather concerns down south but again were not really affected by any weather problems until they reached Cheshire on the M6. They made multiple drop offs for pupils in the area that night so that parents could meet their children nearer home, instead of parents having to make their way to school because of the weather conditions in Penketh and Great Sankey!

“It was a really relaxed yet very educational day with all pupils really inspired by all of the new wonderful art they were interacting with. The pupils were so well behaved; Miss Jenkins, Specialists Arts Coordinator, stated that this was the best London Art Trip she has ever been on to date. That was down to both the fantastic behaviour of pupils and the coach company who went out of their way to ensure all pupils got home safely in the horrid conditions.” Miss Garrod commented.
