The date for the year 11 prom has been changed from Friday 2nd July to Thursday 1st July. This is due to student's request to change the venue from the Halliwell Jones Stadium to the Park Royal Hotel.
Dear Parent / Guardian,
We are quickly approaching the end of your son/daughter’s time here at Penketh High School. As a reward for all their hard work and commitment whilst here at Penketh, we hold our annual “Year 11 Leaver’s Prom”. The Prom is a much anticipated and very successful event and is well attended by both staff and students.
We would like all our pupils to attend the Prom but there are certain criteria that each student must meet before we give permission. The criteria below have been outlined for the “Passport to the Prom” and these have already been introduced in a recent assembly.
This will be over the following period of time: Feb 22nd – May 28th
In order to be allowed to attend the Prom ALL students must achieve the following:
- • 90% or above attendance.
- • Appropriate behaviour.
Alongside the invitation, there is also an opportunity for your child to receive a discount on their ticket. This is linked to completion of coursework and positive attitudes to learning and pupils who do show commitment can achieve one of three discounted invitations (Bronze/Silver/Gold Passport).
As you can see the criteria set is obtainable for all our students, however should the students fail to meet the criteria, then they will not be allowed to attend the Prom. We urge parents not to buy or hire dresses / suits until your son/daughter receives an invitation. It is also important to stress that the school will not be held responsible in any way, should your child not meet the criteria and not gain an invitation, and therefore will not be responsible for any lost monies.
It is important that you discuss this letter and the “Passport to the Prom scheme with your son / daughter so they are very clear on what they have to do over the next few months. It is their responsibility to ensure their attendance and behaviour means that they are invited. The Year 11 Leavers’ Prom is an amazing night not to be missed and we are very much looking forward to it.
Yours sincerely

Mock Results Day on 15th January , for Year 11 GCSE students, was a really positive experience and the pupils reacted well.
Many pupils were pleased with their results and were keen to share the information with home and friends. There were also a few who were disappointed but now know what they have to do to improve!
“Thanks to all staff who got behind the event and could see the value of it. There was a great atmosphere in the Drama Studio and the pupils were nervous about collecting their results. There were some interesting comments made and the pupils seemed to enjoy it. Speaking to staff who have had feedback from Year 11 they said that they enjoyed it and some of them got a shock when they saw their results!!” said Mrs J Jenkinson.
“Many thanks to Mrs Jenkinson and the exam team and staff involved.
Early feedback about the day has been very positive and it does seem to have heightened pupil concern about exams.. We all need to make the most of this as we work towards ambitious targets,” Mr J Hughes, Headteacher commented.
It’s not too late!
“Think you can, think you can’t; either way you’re right
