The date for the year 11 prom has been changed from Friday 2nd July to Thursday 1st July. This is due to student's request to change the venue from the Halliwell Jones Stadium to the Park Royal Hotel.

A FORMER head boy of Penketh High School has been to Downing Street after the school where he is now head teacher was picked out as one of the most improved in the country.

Curwen Primary School, in Newham, East London, has gone from being rated ‘satisfactory’ by Ofsted inspectors to ‘outstanding’ in the four years since head teacher Paul Harris has been there.

“On Wednesday 2nd December Mr. I. Farrar and Mrs. S McDonald took 10 pupils (Jack, Ryan, Tim, Sam, Luke, Melissa, Rebecca, Charlotte, Ashlea, Amy) to London along with staff and pupils from William Beamont, Sir Thomas Botler and Lysander High Schools.

The Food Department ran an after-school club during the last 3 weeks before Christmas, making Christmas Cakes, with some Year 7, 8, 9 pupils. The results were great, considering the skills involved, imagination and enthusiasm, completed in such a short time.

 

“We returned home with a happy feeling. Everyone was so kind and thoughtful especially the young ones. We admire them so much.”

This was just one of the compliments made by our guests, sent by letter ‘to all who made the luncheon so enjoyable’ from Mr and Mrs Pennington.

 

We are Looking for 130 actors, singers and dancers aged 11-21 to take part in FAME The Musical at the Empire Theater in Liverpool during summer 2010. Stage Experience is our annual summer school project which runs from 26th July to 6th August during which time the lucky cast rehearses with a professional creative team to stage the show. We also need young and aspiring theatre technicians to take part in the project working with our professional team on sound, lighting set, props and costume.

Red Rose Media is a professional film and media production company based within the school. The aim of the company is to facilitate access to media across the curriculum for all of our pupils and staff. In 2007 Penketh High School and Red Rose Media produced the world's first ever high school feature film Days. The film was featured nationally by BBC, ITV, Channel 4 & The Times before a successful public release at Warrington's Odeon Cinema. The project raised the profile of the school across the country and Penketh High School is now regarded as one of the leading media schools in the UK.

Red Rose Media have continued to produce and release full-length feature films and other media productions in order to engage pupils and inspire them to learn, not only about media and film production, but also about teamwork, time management, commitment...
